Hello, I am Elena
Role: project manager. Parent. Expat based in Rome, Italy.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Routine tasks seemed more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built Steady Field Node
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or merely surface-level travel material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real-life Italy living.
What This Website Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when changes truly occur
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Cheers,
Elena
